Stormy

Stormy is the 15' tall star of any show and is sure to draw a crowd!  Our inflatable mascot provides great photo opportunities for visitors and the press.

When deflated, Stormy easily fits into his very own red suitcase-sized carrying bag.  He comes with a small blower (to keep him inflated), tarp, lawn stakes and fillable sandbags to secure him at outdoor venues.  Add your own electrical power source (outlet or generator) and extension cord, if necessary.   You will need a minimum of two staff persons at all times (three if exhibiting outdoors) to make sure Stormy behaves.  See directions below.

Stormy is available for weekly rentals (Wednesday to Wednesday). He can be picked up at the Masachusetts Bays Estuary Association office in Scituate, or we will ship him for an extra fee.  Please contact us for details.

And yes, you can buy your very own Stormy for $6,000.

Stormy gets inflated!

How to Inflate a 15' Tall Duck

Stormy is big, but he’s a flexible guy who’s easy to set up for events.  We'll supply you with a utility bin that includes a green tarp (with four small stakes), four large stakes, and empty sand bags.

Here’s a quick overview to get you started:

1. Pull Stormy out of his remarkably small red suitcase, and find the four stakes in the supplied utility bin.

2. Spread Stormy out on the supplied green tarp (be sure to secure the tarp to the ground with the small stakes in the utility bin) and tie the four stakes to the four ropes attached to Stormy. These will be his anchors.  In situations where you can’t use stakes, attach Stormy’s ties to 10-gallon paint buckets filled with sand or gravel, or to sandbags.

3. Tie and velcro the inflation tube (extending from Stormy’s back) to the blower.

4. Make sure Stormy’s back zip is sealed (velcro), then turn on the blower and keep a close eye on him as he inflates, especially on windy days!*

5. As he inflates, secure the stakes in the ground to keep Stormy in place.

6. Keep the blower running as long as you want Stormy to be inflated. Get ready for lots of kids who want to kick or punch Stormy and be prepared to fend them off.  Perhaps figure out why they do this.

7. To deflate, simply turn off the blower, open Stormy’s back zipper, and roll him up to get all of the air out. Yes, he really will fit back into that small red suitcase when he’s deflated.

* On windy days, try to keep Stormy's nose pointed into the wind.  If the breeze really picks up, try unzipping Stormy's back zipper and letting some air out to help stabilize him.
